Welcome to 'Eating Hong Kong'
Having been a resident here for eight months now I've been reflecting on the idea of 'eating Hong Kong'. On one hand living in a new place is always exciting, especially if the location is such a dynamic city as Hong Kong. Famous as a centre of Cantonese cuisine as well being a melting pot of many of the World's culinary styles, Hong Kong has many delights to offer the taste buds. However I often find the joy of steaming bowls of noodle soup and pretty plates of yum cha countered by the frustrations of a negotiating a foreign city. Where does one buy arborio rice and get decent bread? How is one meant to afford to drink a decent glass of wine with such outrageous import tax. Where do you eat when you live in Yuen Long?
This blog is an attempt to put together some of the things I'm really into: food, wine, cooking, eating out, beer, booze and perhaps the odd travelers tale or photo. Nothing formal or serious just a little discourse on eating Hong Kong in all it's many guises. Enjoy.
